In accordance to papers published in, a newly discovered evidence of a link in the evolution of Homo sapiens discovered in South African in 2015.
The species, dubbed “Homo Naledi” was discovered by Professor Lee Berger of Wits University.
The piece was discovered in the ancient underground structure called Dinaledi chamber. With the workforce of 15 member’s each piece was mostly recovered individually are put thereafter after. The name naledi means star in Sotho.
Several attributes noted were.
- Naledi has a small skull.
- The ribcage, shoulders and pelvis bear similarities to the earlier Homo sapiens.
- Homo Naledi by appearance age has been traced back to the assumed time period..
- Naledi teeth are more similar to anthropods.
- The legs and feet of naledi indicate that the fossil of considerable size.
- The measurements of the Homo naledi brain were 1.5 meters tall 45 kilograms.
Now people are actually able to go and see the fossils and get more in depths with how the fossil looks, how tall it is and see the facial structure of the homo sapien.
The two papers, titled: “Nature Comms: The foot of Homo naledi” and “Nature Comms: The hand of Homo naledi”, go on to explain the details of the H. naledi hand and foot. In the paper itself, it was assumed to have an ideal structure for tree climbing and walking upright. It also seemed to have been able to use tools fromin its finger digits.
The fossils were unveiled for the initially at international launch at the Maropeng Visitor’s Centre in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, upon which it was attended by several high names in the South African goverment and various researchers from around the world.
Needless to say, this discovery did well to enlighten new discoveries of the history of mankind. A new piece of our past was uncovered, and yet they could be seveal more beneath the sands of time.
Perhaps this event is a guiding light for us, something that tells us there is something more out there and we just need to find it, perhaps this step might be just the inspiration we need to unlock the secrets of mankind.
